by Shirajiv Sirimane
Connaissance de Ceylan Ltd, which commenced inbound operations in
1981 and presently a total destination management company will change
its cooperate logo to 'Amaya' from September "We have already appointed
a UK based company in Thailand to develop and market this product,"
Finance Manager, Connaisance Hotels and Travels, Nimal Perera, said.
All their four hotels would be re-branded while the travel arm would
be named as Yathra. Connaissance is a French name and most of the
foreigners (excluding French) and Sri Lankans prefer an alternate name
with a Sri Lanka origin. "What we want to project in 'Amaya' is beyond
illusion while 'Yathra' means a comfortable journey," he said.
The Le Kandyan in Kandy will be re-named as Amaya Hill while the
Culture Club Dambulla would be named as 'The Lake'.
The former Reef Comber Hotel, Hikkaduwa would be re-named as 'the
Amaya Reef.'
The new luxury hotel to be built at Wadduwa is to be named as Amaya
Beach Resort. The Fortress Koggala, which would be managed by a foreign
company, would not come under the brand name, Amaya.
