Plantation sector teacher vacancies to be filled

THE Education Ministry has taken immediate steps to fill teacher vacancies in Tamil schools in the plantation sector.

The Ministry said this will be done by recruiting unemployed graduates and graduates of estate origin to schools in the plantation sector as well as directing teachers passing out from colleges of Education to plantation sector Tamil schools.

The Ministry in a release said since these measures would not be sufficient to fill all existing vacancies in these schools, another batch of 3,179 teachers would be selected from among GCE Advanced Level qualified persons through a competitive examination.

Details about this examination scheduled for August this year will be published in the Government Gazette of July 1 this year.

These recruitments would be completed before December 31 this year.
