Industrial zone for Galigamuwa

The Government will initiate an industrial zone in Galigamuwa in Kegalle district with immediate effect.

This was disclosed at a conference held in the Kegalle District Secretariat chaired by Kegalle Government Agent Ms. Prema Dissanayake and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning and Kegalle District Parliamentarian Ranjith Siyambalapitiya. This initiative was proposed with the aim of creating employments to thousands of young men and women in the area.

A number of top level government administrative officers attended this meeting. Deputy Minister of Finance Siyambalapitiya said that the Government will spend over three thousand million rupees on the proposed Galigamuwa industrial zone and all other required funds will be provided by an organisation in America.

Deputy Minister Siyambalapitiya said that already forty-eight acres of land have been ear-marked from the Galigamuwa town for this purpose.

Under this project Galigamuwa town will be developed as a modern town with all basic facilities such as water, electricity, a bus-stand, along with a marketing and a shopping complex.
