Women's Empowerment and Social Welfare Minister Sumedha G. Jayasena and Social Welfare Deputy Minister S.M. Chandrasena handed over the letters of confirmation to 231 graduates recruited to the ministry under the Government's graduate recruitment drive yesterday.

About 100 graduates have been recruited to the Children's Secretariat. 100 graduates for the counselling section, 25 Graduates for the Secretariat of Non Governmental Organisations and six graduates for the Disaster Management Centre too have been recruited by the Ministry.

The newly recruited graduates took care of the welfare of tsunami victims in camps. They especially took care of victimised children, women, elders and disabled persons staying in those camps.
