Japanese Govt. offers scholarships to Sri Lankans

The Government of Japan has announced that Japanese Government (Monbugakusho) Scholarships for the year 2006 will be offered to Sri Lankan students who wish to pursue studies at Japanese Universities as Post Graduate Research students, Undergraduate students or as College of Technology students, under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program.

An official advertisement calling for applications for these scholarships was published by the Ministry of Education, on pages 33 and 34 of the "Daily News" on Saturday 25th June 2005 and on pages 22 and 25 of "Dinamina" on the same day. This advertisement will also be published in "Thinakaran" newspaper on 29th June 2005.

Applications for these scholarships are now being accepted by the Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka at No. 18, Ward Place Colombo 7.

The closing date for these applications will be 8th July 2005 for Undergraduate and College of Technology scholarships and 13th July 2005 for Post Graduate research scholarships. Students who wish to apply for these scholarships may forward their applications to the Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education at Ward Place, Colombo 7.
