Greetings to President from Ministers' Secretaries' Union

The Ministers' Secretaries' Union in a media message of greetings wished President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, a happy birthday which falls today, June 29.

The birthday greeting also pledged the union's unreserved backing for her programs of restoring peace and democracy in Sri Lanka battered by various reactionary elements.

It further said that the Ministers' Secretaries' Union is fully aware of and appreciative of the President's relentless efforts to forge ahead a clear vision of lasting prosperity during the past 11 years of her leadership.

"We fervently hope that your peace process will definitely extinguish the flames of ethnic hostility that pulverised the entire life pattern of our people. You did so often staking your own life during the past several decades, it said.

"On this 60th birth anniversary of yours, our union wish you success in all your tasks, deserving your name to go down in history in golden letters as the most dynamic personality who dedicated her entire life for the welfare of the motherland.

May your fame spread throughout the length and breadth of the globe and may you live long with the blessings of the Triple Gem and all guardian deities, the message also read.
