Appointment of principals with grades to be expedited

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga as the Minister of Education has directed the Ministry of Education to appoint principals with Grades to all schools.

The Education Ministry is now obtaining information from the Provincial Directors of Education, an Education Ministry release said.

There are 191 acting principals in service in the Western Province and 82 principals with grades do not hold posts in commensurate with the relevant grades.

There has been a grave response to the notice issued to provincial secretaries and directors.

Accordingly, in accordance with the Education Ministry notice directing the appointment of the officers to the posts and not to pay salaries to officers who refuse to make such appointments, the appointments to the posts and correct placement will be implemented within the next few months.
