Principals' promotions before end of the year
THE Education Ministry has drawn urgent attention towards the
solution of all teacher problems including the granting of promotions to
principals held up over the years to ensure job satisfaction to members
of the teaching service who fashion, the lives of the future generation.
The Ministry in a release said measures taken in this regard have
been spelt out in circular number 2005/14 issued by it and all
provincial education authorities have been instructed to ensure that all
promotions are granted and other teacher problems are solved within
three months.
The release said the Principals Service represented a majority
membership in the Education Process. According to the Principals Service
Minute, there are 2,485 officers in Grade One and 5,555 officers in
Grade 2-1 and 3,474 officers in Grade 2-2 making a total of 16,507 in
the teaching service.
Despite this statistical data, the actual number in each grade is
much less because promotions had not been effected properly during the
past several years. As a result, those officers had been stagnating in
the same grade for many years without any job satisfaction.
Therefore the Ministry has now drawn urgent attention towards solving
all unresolved teacher problems and granting promotions in the
Principals Service without delay.
These promotions will be granted according to the stipulations of the
Sri Lanka Principals Service Minute.
The entire problem is due to be completed before December 31 this
year. |
