World Bank launches Small Grants Program 2005

THE World Bank Office, Colombo will disperse grant allocations to seven selected civic society organisations and officially launch the Small Grants Program today.

The theme for this year's program is "Social Accountability." The selected organisations will work with diverse community sectors - from tsunami affected to plantation workers - addressing a wide range of pertinent issues.

The projects will enable communities to participate in the development process by ensuring that the voices of the people and their needs are clearly heard by the Government and incorporated into the Development Process.
