New Ministry for Muslim Affairs

PRESIDENT Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has established a Ministry for Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs by Extraordinary Gazette Notification, published on June 14, 2005.

The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and its subjects and functions, viz. the implementation and monitoring of programs and projects in respect of Muslim religious and cultural affairs, which earlier came directly under the President, will now be administered by the new ministry, a Presidential Media Unit release said.
