No quorum, no president

SRI LANKA Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) once again failed to fill the vacancy of its president as there was no quorum at its Special General Meeting (SGM) held yesterday.

Out of the 19 clubs which had voting rights, only four turned up - Air Force, Fishtail AC, Kinross AC and Galle Swimming Club.

This is the third time that SLASU has failed to elect a president. The post has been vacant since the premature resignation of the 2005 AGM's president-elect Wasantha Karannagoda.

The sole nominee for the presidency was former vice president and media spokesman C. Vijitha Fernando.
