Factory girl rape case: Bus driver remanded

COLOMBO Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Sarojini Kusala Weerawardena yesterday remanded the bus driver who allegedly raped a garment factory girl in broad daylight at the Pettah bus stand on Wednesday.

Remanding the suspect till June 30, Judge Weerawardena directed the Prison authorities to produce him before an identification parade on the next date.

On an application by Inspector Hemantha Ovitigama, OIC, CDB, Pettah Police station, the judge directed the Colombo JMO to examine the victim and forward a report to court on the next date.

The Judge also directed Police to obtain a DNA test of the victim.
