SPECIAL Presidential Investigations Unit probing into irregular Grade
1 school admissions had widen their net to rope in principals of
so-called "elite' schools in Colombo after interrogating parents who had
produced forged documents to secure admission of their children.
The Special Presidential Investigations Unit ASP C. E. Wedisinghe
told the Daily News yesterday that the investigations into
irregularities that have taken place at Royal College, Visakha Vidyalaya,
Nalanda College and Dammissara College in Nattandiya were almost
complete and the arrest of the parents who had produced forged documents
in admitting their children is imminent in the coming week.
ASP Wedisinghe said that investigations so far had revealed, there
had been five occasions where the parents had used forged documents to
gain admission for their children to Visakha Vidyalaya while one case
each had been detected in connection with Royal College, Nalanda and
Dammissara.
The Unit, based on complaints received and the statements made by the
parents they hope to take into custody will expand its investigations,
leading to the arrest of principals for their inaction, the ASP said. |
