Post tsunami rebuilding Fine Arts competitions
THE district level competitions of the 'Post Tsunami Rebuilding Fine
Arts Competition' jointly organised by Peace and National Integration
and Fine Arts Units of the Ministry of Education under the instructions
of Education Secretary Dr (Mrs.) Tara de Mel and the guidance of the
President will be conducted between May and June this year.
These competitions will include dancing, music and short drama
competitions, the Education Ministry said in a press release yesterday.
Competitions relating to the districts of Gampaha, Colombo, Kalutara,
Puttalam, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Hambantota and Galle
have already been completed.
The Matara district competition was held at the Sujatha Balika
Vidyalaya, Matara on May 26. The dates of the other district
competitions and their venues are as follows: May 28 - Moneragala
district at Rajakeeya Vidyalaya, Kegalle district at Tholangamuwa MMV,
Nuwara Eliya district at Gamini MV. May 29 - Badulla district at
Dharmaduta MV, Ratnapura district at Sumana Balika Vidyalaya, Matale
district at St. Thomas MV and Kandy district at Mahamaya Balika
Vidyalaya. June 3 - Ampara district at Bandaranaike Balika Vidyalaya and
June 4 - Trincomalee district at Vidyaloka MV.
These competitions will be held in the Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and
Mulaitivu districts as well within the next few days. Director (Fine
Arts), Ministry of Education Thushara Gunatilleke has requested all
schools who had sent in applications to participate in the competitions
on the respective days irrespective of whether they have received
summoning letters or not. |
