New concepts led to Malaysia's success - Dr. Mahthir

MALAYSIA as an industrialised country has achieved many goals following new concepts to face challenges. The challenges were met due to its hard work and embarking on new economic policies and maintaining political stability.

Everybody worked together by shedding all racial disparities to go beyond existing frontiers said Former Malaysian Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad at a business forum organised by the Board of Investment (BOI) in Colombo yesterday.

He said Malaysia has focussed on attracting more foreign investments to develop the country not merely to collect taxes for the government but also to provide jobs to the unemployed.

"We are concentrating on lucrative value added products using new technology which are produced following world standards. The country learned many lessons from Japan and South Korea to progress towards development. We have challenges to face in the global market and we should get-together to build up an independent nation," he said.
