Ananda, Visakha, Seetha Devi schools hockey champs

Ananda College clinched the boys title while Visakha College and Seetha Devi Balika MV emerged joint champions in the girls championship at the All Island inter schools under 15 hockey tournament concluded at the Astro turf, Reid Avenue yesterday.

The Anandians continued with their unbeaten record in the tournament and defeated Christ Church College Matale by three goals to two in the final. Earlier they beat St. Benedict's College 2-1 while Christ Church College edged out Nalanda College by a solitary goal in the semifinals.

The Benedictines however had the satisfaction of winning the third place overcoming Nalanda College 2-1 in the consolation final.

Meanwhile Visakha College and Seetha Devi Balika MV emerged joint champions in the girls tournament after their final ended in a nil all draw even after the extra time.

In the semifinals Visakha College beat Pushpadana BMV one nil while the defending champions Seetha Devi BMV had the better of Yasodara BMV by the identical margin. In the girls consolation final Pushpadana BMV outplayed Yasodara BMV by three goals to nil.
