We must not fear to take loans for development projects. The late
President J.R. Jayawardene took highest loan in the world to put up the
Mahaweli project. No massive development could be done without loans.
What is needed today is to build a sound economy and take the country
forward to fulfill the aspirations of the people, said Dinesh
Gunawardana, Minister of Urban Development and Water Supply when he
declared open the Avissawella New Bus Terminal and the shopping complex.
He said that the Seethavakapura UC need not have any fear about the
loan taken to put up the bus terminal and the shopping complex because
he was there to protect the UC.
A plan has been approved to develop Avissawella and according to the
plan the development project will be expanded from Seethavaka ganga up
to Pusella Oya.
The Minister said there is no wonder that people express fear when a
town is modernised.
We must face the challenges and take the country forward.
He said that President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has assured
fullest cooperation to see the successful implementation of the
Avissawella development project.
Alavi Mowlana, Governor, Western Province said that after a long time
he was able to appear before a ceremony which conducted in an
environment where there is no differences. No political or any other
differences mixed in this ceremony. This is a good beginning for others
to follow. K.D.P. Arsakularatna, Chairman, Seethavakapura UC also spoke. |
