Kurunegala Central Special Corr. A. Wansathilake
IN ancient times a woman could go alone from North to South without
any threat. But today the woman cannot go even to temple with her
husband because of bad activities of notorious people of our society,
said Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse in Kurunegala.
The PM said this when he declared open the underground pedestrian
crossing in Kurunegala town.
PM further said our society is full of bad habits and corruption.
Fathers rape their daughters. Our country must be developed
systematically so as to direct our younger generation towards the
correct path.
All the religious leaders must get together and work according to
their heart to prevent these bad activities. Without cohabitation the
country cannot be developed. During the last year the Government had
done several projects and gave 42,000 jobs for unemployed youth of Sri
Lanka.
68 millions was spent for the construction of under ground pedestrian
crossing. When we were constructing this crossing we had to face so many
disturbances.
The Prime Minister visited Yapahuwa electorate and participated a
special 'Pooja' ceremony at Yapahuwa Rajamaha Viharaya.
Minister of Regional Infrastructure Development S.B. Nawinna, Deputy
Minister of Public Security, Law and Order Jayaratne Herath, Deputy
Minister of Highways T.B. Ekanayake, Kurunegala Mayor Nimal Chandrasiri
de Silva also addressed the meeting. |
