Area around Lake House to be decorated for Vesak

A decision has been taken to decorate and illuminate the whole area
around the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) for the 'Amadahara
Vesak Zone' to be launched marking the Vesak festival, Consultant to the
Editorial, Karunaratne Paranavithana said.
According to Mr. Paranavithana, several meetings have already been
held in order to organise the event.
A decision has been made to do all decorations and illuminations
according to one theme. All other institutions will also arrange their
own Vesak programs, but contribute to the main Vesak program 'Amadahara'.
According to the OIC of the Fort police, the police station will
conduct a 'Dansela'. Employees of the Fort Railway station and the
Transport Ministry will join the festival and take part in 'Amadahara'.
The Buddhist Association of the Bank of Ceylon will conduct a series
of Dhamma Deshana daily from 12.45 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. at the Budu Medura
of the Y.M.B.A. at Colombo Fort. Ven. Ketawala Hemaloka Thera will
conduct the Dhamma Deshana. A free Dhamma leaflet will be distributed
after the Dhamma Deshana on May 20. The Pavement Hawkers' Association
has organised a cool drinks Dansela on May 23 close to Sri Lanka
Telecom, Colombo Fort.
D. R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Sir Chiththampalam A. Gardinar Mawatha,
Olcott Mawatha, Bank of Ceylon Mawatha, Lotus Road, Maligawatta Road and
all the other roads within the zone will be illuminated during the
festival. |
