HSBC promotes culture of e-learning
HSBC recently set up a 'Learning Zone' to cater to a new culture of
development at the convenience of the individual. An extensive catalogue
of group-wide HSBC e-Learning modules will be available to all
employees, in addition, to a wide range of books and videos on key
aspects of self-development. The Learning Zone is therefore primarily
designed to provide user-friendly learning programmes to all employees.
Customer needs continue to change and develop rapidly - in order to
meet these challenges it is vital for organisations to equip their
employees with the correct skills set. Traditionally employee
development was limited to classroom training that was previously the
most popular and effective method of skill development.
However, the increasing demands, placed on an employee's time by both
their work and personal commitments, has made classroom training a
progressively less effective tool in employee development.
The most popular solution currently is self development which can
taken many forms, such as development plans, reading or e-learning - a
method by which employees undergo their training online.
E-learning has a range of benefits, the most advantageous of which is
that an employee can choose specific training modules to fit their
development needs and proceed to take the program at a pace most
convenient to them. |
