Pakistan frees 29 Indian prisoners
QUETTA, Pakistan, Monday (AFP) Pakistan freed 29 Indian nationals
from a prison in southwestern Baluchistan province after they completed
their jail terms for border violations, officials said.
"Twenty-nine Indian prisoners, who were taken into custody for
illegal entry into Pakistan were released today (Sunday) after
completion of their terms," Baluchistan home secretary Hammayun Khan
told AFP.
The Indian prisoners would be kept in another prison in Rawalpindi, a
city near the capital Islamabad, before being handed over to Indian
authorities, Khan said.
The freed batch of Indian prisoners were caught during the past six
to eight months, he said. Indian and Pakistani illegal immigrants are
routinely held by Iranian border authorities and pushed back into
Pakistan before they can sneak into Turkey to find jobs in European
countries. |
