LTTE 'fired 200 rounds' towards Army detachment

Around 200 rounds are reported to have been fired by the LTTE towards the Kattaiparichchan Army detachment on Saturday at around 9.30 pm.

Beyond Kattaiparichchan is the uncleared area of Sampur under LTTE control. This is the second time the LTTE had fired at the Army detachment. When bullets began to fall on house roofs in Kattaiparichchan, frightened villagers are reported to have fled and taken refuge at a church at night.

This had been reported to the SLMM. On an earlier occasion, the LTTE was also informed that shots had been fired towards LTTE controlled areas.
