Lanka Orix Securities opens branch in Kandy
The Lanka Orix Securities (LOSEC) is expanding its operations with a
branch in Kandy as turnover reaches record levels on the Colombo bourse.
The new branch will cater to the growing market segment of retail
investors with value added services such as internet trading.
Equipped with many automated trading computers and data viewers,
LOSEC has the capacity to accommodate fifty clients at its premises.
Investors in Kandy will get more opportunities of investing in the
increasingly profitable share market, Kandy Mayor, Kesara Senanayake
said at the opening ceremony.
We are confident that our experienced team will provide superior
investment advice," LOSEC, Chairperson, Rohini Nanayakara said. The
Kandy branch is headed by Nishantha Jayasundara who has an MBA from the
University of Western Sydney and has twelve years experience in Capital
Markets.
Retail clients who usually invest between a Rs.100,000 and Rs.500,000
have been the mainstay of the Colombo stock market as the composition of
investors has become predominantly local with foreign ventures
decreasing their investments in Colombo.
Local investors account for approximately 80 per cent of turnover on
the Colombo Stock Exchange while more than 7.5 per cent of total
turnover was contributed by its Kandy branch in 2004.
The new branch is located at Ceybank House, 88, Dalada Veediya, Kandy.
LOSEC has been in operation since 1991 and caters to a diverse client
base of institutional investors, retailers, high networth individuals,
corporates and foreign investors. |
