Sports centre at Tangalle for tsunami affected children

A sports centre for children affected by the tsunami in the Hambantota District will be set up in Tangalle. Children will take part in badminton, table tennis, football and volleyball at this centre. The tsunami affected children will also be trained in dancing and music.

The children will be able to overcome the trauma of losing their family members by taking part in these activities.

The project has been launched by a dancing teacher from Frankfurt, Germany Michael Meiners who was holidaying in Sri Lanka when the tsunami tidal waves lashed the coastal belt of Sri Lanka in December last year.

He has already collected 20,000 Euros for the construction of the sports centre at Tangalle and hopes to collect another 10,000 Euros from well-wishers in Germany for this worthy cause.

Meiners will also obtain sports equipment from sports clubs in Germany.
