President should establish permanent peace in country - PC
Minister
Deraniyagala Roving corr.
"The Government need not worry about the UNP, whose leader Ranil is
more interested in becoming the President of Sri Lanka than resolving
the Ethnic problem by negotiation. It is the UNP that is responsible for
Tamils of the North, losing confidence in the Sri Lankan Government and
the youth of that region taking to arms struggle.
"The UNP in their seventeen years rule, the Tamil Community were
subject to various forms of harassment, which compelled the Tamils to
lose confidence in the Sinhala Government. Therefore, allow Ranil to
concentrate on his Presidential crown and the UPF, ignoring all
opposition should boldly come forward to resolve the Tamil problem
without delay."
This appeal was made by Sabaragamuwa PC, Lands, Agriculture, Youth
Affairs and Sports Minister Y. G. Padmasiri, addressing LSSP supporters
at his Deraniyagala Office. He said, "The LSSP is prepared to lend its
unstinted support to the Government to resolve the Ethnic problem and
restore harmony and unity of all sections of people, which is the need
of the hour for Sri Lanka to prosper socially and economically."
Padmasiri said the Government should be unmindful of the UNP, which
is power hungry and not interested in the welfare of the country or its
people. Its leader is a puzzled man now as he is worried about
defections from his party as that would lead to his losing support for
his dream as President of this country.
He has no desire in bringing Peace to this country, as the UNP had
been the enemy of the Tamils from their very inception. It is this party
that is responsible for Tamil youth in the North taking to arms
struggle, the Sabaragamuwa PC Minister reiterated.
President Chandrika should enlist the support of all sections of
people to build a United Sri Lanka by resolving the Northern, Eastern
problems and establish permanent Peace in this country for which, he
assured the loyal support of the LSSP. |
