Japanese tourists visit Lanka
A group of 13 tourists from Japan visited Sri Lanka last week. This
is the first tour conducted by JTB Media, the biggest tour operator in
Japan after the devastating tsunami. Each one of them contributed Yen
10,000 as a donation to tsunami affected children.
They made this donation of US$ 1,202 to the Future For Children
Foundation funded by Samudrarama Temple in Ahungalla. Here chief priest
of the temple Ven. Ahungalle Wimaladamma Tissa Thera, who initiated this
project and the group members who made the donation.
Also in the picture are the students of Sunday School who
participated at the ceremony. SriLankan Airlines in Tokyo has given a
special discount on air tickets for this group to make this tour a
success.

Help save little Nuwangi
Four-month-old baby T. R. Nuwangi Sansala, daughter of T. R. Asoka
Pushpakumara of Maththamagoda, Kannathota, Ruwanwella, in the
Yatiyantota DS Division is suffering from Fallots Tetrology disease.
The child is being treated by Y. K. M. Lahie, MS, FRCS, Consultant
Cardiac Surgeon of Nawaloka Hospital. The surgeon recommends that the
child should undergo a surgery for total correction and the cost of the
entire package will be Rs. 350,000.
Baby's parents say they are unable to foot this bill due to their
present financial plight and request philanthropists and the general
public to send whatever financial contributions possible to help
expedite the surgery.
All contributions should be remitted to Account Number 1-028949-1 at
the Bank of Ceylon, Ruwanwella branch. |
