Child porn: Indictment filed against foreigner

INDICTMENT was filed against a foreigner before the Colombo High
Court for possessing floppy diskettes containing obscene photographs of
children and distributing them.
Walter Thomas May was indicted for the possession of floppy diskettes
containing obscene and indecent photographs of children and for
distribution at Kollupitiya on or around April 23, 2004.
Walter Thomas, 60, in his statement denied the allegations against
him and stated that he came to Sri Lanka twice and visited many places
including Anuradhapura and Kandy. He visited these places with Sri
Lankans including families that he became friendly during his stay.
He gave them dinners at hotels at times. He also stated that he was a
financial adviser for private firms in USA since 1980. Earlier he was a
teacher. He was a resident at Whitmun Road, Lougmeagow, Massachusetts,
USA.
The indictment consists four productions including the suspect's
travel passport and 10 witnesses including officers of the National
Child Protection Authority. |
