KOICA presents detailed design of Padeniya - Anuradhapura Highway
THE Governments of the Republic of Korea and Sri Lanka signed a
record of discussion on the detailed design of Padeniya-Anuradhapura
Highway by the Resident Representative of Korea International
Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Young Tae Han, and Road Development
Authority, Chairman M.B.S. Fernando, on behalf of the two Governments on
Thursday.
Young-Ah Doh, Deputy Resident Representative of KOICA, Prof. Yoon Ho
Cho of Chung-Ang University in Korea and Prof. Hyun Jong Lee of Se-Jong
University in Korea, the Implementation Survey Team and A. Premasiri,
General Manager of RDA were also present.
The detailed design of Padeniya-Anuradhapura Highway will cover 84 Km
from Padeniya to Anuradhapura. The Korean Government will grant US $
900,000 for this project. The project will be completed within 12 months
(2005-2006) after the consultant's contract comes into effect.
The project is aimed at improving the national road network by
improving accessibility of rural communities and areas, mitigating
traffic congestion and enhancing road safety, finally accelerating the
economic growth in the local provinces. |
