Hutch Indoor Cricket Mela 2005 sizzles Nuwara Eliya
The ongoing Hutch Indoor Cricket Mela 2005, is taking the district of
Nuwara Eliya by storm with a multitude of cricket crazy fans patronizing
Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya on a daily basis to cheer the participating
teams and enjoy a game of indoor cricket themselves.
The Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association is proud of the decision they
made in taking the fast spreading game of indoor cricket to the outer
districts of Sri Lanka via the mobile indoor cricket nets. The newest
concept in the island. 'The mobile indoor nets' has certainly provided
the opportunity to enable players to experience this game in district
levels.
Hutchison Telecom has been with CICA for indoor cricket in previous
occasions as well and joining hands with CICA as title sponsors once
again has been a pleasure to both parties.
CICA will have the semi-finals of the Nuwara Eliya district
commencing at 9 a.m. on the 22nd of April with the finals of schools at
2.30 p.m. and clubs at 4 p.m. These teams will train for the grand
finals held in Colombo district with international standard facilities.
Out of the eliminating rounds in which an amazing number of schools
and clubs participated, the teams that qualified for the semi-finals are
Gamini Vidyalaya, Republican International, Holy Trinity Sinhalese
School, Vajira Vidyalaya, SSI Sports Club, Gamini Sports Club A and B
Division, Ultra Violet Sports Club.
The awards and closing ceremony will be held at the grounds
immediately after the finals. Public participation will be free of
