Shramadana at all State institutions

The Cabinet of Ministers at their meeting on 7th April 2005 endorsed President Chandrika Kumaratunga's suggestion that all State institutions initiate a Shramadana campaign to tidy up their work places and create a pleasant people-friendly working environment, states a Presidential Secretariat press release.

April 28 and 29 have been designated for this Shramadana programme where Government servants of all ranks are expected to participate.

The President has written to her Ministers to ensure this is communicated to all state departments and corporations under their purview.

They have been asked to tidy up and dispose all unserviceable furniture and equipment and obsolete papers and files following approved producers. They have also been asked to see to the needs and comforts of the general public who call on them. The President has asked the heads of all government institutions to submit a report on the Shramadana activities within the first two weeks of May 2005.
