Ananda Principal challenges interdiction

The Principal of Ananda College, Colombo yesterday filed a writ
application in the Court of Appeal challenging his interdiction.
Petitioner B.A. Abeyratne filed the Writ of Certiorari Application to
quash the letter dated April 6, which informed the decision of the
Secretary to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to interdict
the petitioner subjected to covering the approval of the Public Service
Commission.
The petitioner stated that he had been interdicted in connection with
alleged irregularities with regard to the Year One school admissions. He
stated that although, the Public Service Commission (PSC) had delegated
the administrative powers to the respondent secretary, the secretary did
not have disciplinary control over the petitioner.
He stated that the decision to interdict him was arbitrary,
capricious and gross abuse of powers of the respondent secretary.
Petitioner sought to quash the decision of the Secretary to the Ministry
of Education to interdict him.
