Kingswood principal files writ application challenging interdiction

The Principal of the Kingswood College Kandy yesterday filed a writ application in the Court of Appeal challenging his interdiction.

Petitioner Ranjith Chandrasekera filed the Writ of Certiorari Application to quash the letter dated April 6, that informed the decision of the Secretary to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to interdict the petitioner subjected to the covering the approval of the Public Service Commission. The petitioner stated that a officer attached to the Special Presidential Investigation Unit questioned him on the allegations of year one school admissions and later he had been interdicted in connection with alleged irregularities with regard to the Year one admissions.

He stated that the decision to interdict him was arbitrary, capricious and a gross abuse of powers of the first respondent secretary. He stated he was without his salary and the school would be out of bounds.

The Petitioner cited Secretary to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as the respondent.
