Market for advanced IT solutions in supermarket chains

Sri Lanka's super market network and the hospitality industry is
developing rapidly and this has created a market for advanced IT
solutions.
Product Manager Quest Technology Pvt. Ltd, of Australia Leigh Colley
who was in Sri Lanka to launch their product range said that small time
super markets are being taken over by big time super market chains and
they see a new market in Sri Lanka. He said that the Lankan market
growth in the super market and hospitality industry is faster than in
India and Bangladesh.
They have developed new technology, which would enable super market
administrators to monitor movements of their goods and finances on line
from their head offices.
"In addition the administrators would be able to automatically order
any item which is being sold out," he said.
The company has also introduced automated billing systems for
restaurants and nightclubs to provide better services for their
customers. "This billing system can even determine the happy hour and
normal hour rates in one bill," he said.
He said to service Sri Lankan market even better the Quest Technology
Pvt Ltd, has tied up with Flexiv Micro Systems (Pvt.) Ltd in Kohuwela.
Director of the Company Suranga Ratnatunge said that these systems
are tailor made for Sri Lanka and this was the main reason for them to
tie up with the Australian Company to introduce 'Task Manager
solutions'.

the hospitality and retail industry. With over 2,000 Venue
