Iceplant to be set up in Trincomalee

Under the business services support facility - small and medium
enterprise development project of the Ministry of Advanced Technology
and National Enterprise Development. The Trincomalee Regional Offices,
the Business Development Centre has identified setting up of an iceplant
in Trincomalee as a priority investment.
With a view to expedite this project, the Business Development Centre
has approached few businessmen and K. Thurairasa & Sons (Pvt) Ltd has
consented to invest in this project. Under this project an ice block
making plant is to be located at 7th Mile Post on the
Trincomalee-Nilaveli Road. The proposed plant to be installed here has
the capacity to produce 75 mt of ice per day. The machinery and
technology is to be imported from Dalian Group in China and the total
project cost is around Rs. 65 million.
Professional staff of the Business Development Centre will take over
the management of the plant from selection of machinery installation and
commercial production to maintenance of the plant. An agreement was
signed to this effect between the company and the Business Development
Centre at the Trincomalee Regional Office.
Chairman of the firm K. Thurairasa signed on behalf of the firm and
the Business Development Centre was represented by the Centre Manager
and Marketing Advisor T.M. Rizvi. District Secretary Gamini Rodrigo and
Director Enterprise Services Seeds Ltd. Dr. (Mrs.) Margaret Kuruppu were
also present and witnessed the signing of the agreement. |
