High quality golf expected at NEGC

Golf enthusiasts are in for a treat this festive season, when the season officially begins in April, thanks to 'the leader' in Sri Lanka's insurance industry-Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI). Beginning with the 'Captain's Cup' on the 13 and then the 'President's cup' on the 14 of April 2005, SLI hopes to sponsor a cavalcade of golf and golf related activities at the Nuwara-Eliya Golf Club (NEGC), to make this festive season the best yet for all golfing enthusiasts.

The 'Captain's Cup' and the 'President's Cup' are some great traditional events that have been worked off by NEGC for more than a century, customarily, in April each year.

SLI is proud to be the first to provide combined trophies in both categories-the best stableford score-in the Men's division A and B - and - the Sri Lanka Insurance Trophy in the ladies event on both days. In addition, SLI hopes to sponsor a special award for the 'hole-in-one' (15 hole) with a return air-ticket on offer to the winner in this playoff. In this sector of the tournament, the company expect a 'keen competitor' among all participants and promises to hold many thrills for the spectators to Nuwara-Eliya.

Further, SLI hopes to have a series of promotional activities in conjunction with NEGC, which inter-alia, hopes to educate members on the seasonal events happening at the Nuwara-Eliya Club.

The Nuwara-Eliya golf tournament well-known sporting event in Sri Lanka is looked forward by many a golfing enthusiast each year. This year the tournament is scheduled to be held on the 13 and 14 of April 2005. On a 'Two round best stabeleford score-net event' format with participants competing in two divisions: 0-12 and 13-24 handicap versions. Moreover, SLI hopes to have a series of promotional activities in conjunction with the club.

As part of SLI's co-sponsorship, it plans to have a host of prizes and surprises for winners and participants alike.
