Minister and Deputy Minister visits tsunami affected in South

Cultural Affairs and National Heritage Minister Vijitha Herath and Deputy Minister Samantha Vidyaratne will visit Sindujayapura and Shramabhimanipura, two villages built for the tsunami affected people in the south to mark the traditional Sri Lankan New year customs of visiting relations.

All Sri Lankans who celebrate Sinhala and Hindu New Year visit their relations and friends as a part of the new year celebrations. This custom strengthens the relationships between families. After the Tsunami disaster a lot of people lost their relations and friends apart from their belongings.

The two ministers will visit house to house in the two villages and distribute food items, school bags with educational instruments, cloths and several other items. They will distribute sweetmeats among the children.

The two ministers will spend the whole day in those two villages take part in the new year festival to be held there. Several ministry officials and artistes are expected to join the two ministers.
