British Royal wedding beats out pope's funeral in Dutch TV ratings

THE HAGUE, Sunday (AFP) Hundreds of millions of people around the world tuned in to watch Pope John Paul II's funeral on television, but more people in the Netherlands watched Prince Charles' wedding to Camilla Parker Bowles, according to figures published on Sunday.

Some 1.9 million people in the largely Protestant Netherlands watched Saturday's royal wedding, compared to 1.3 million who watched the pope's funeral at the Vatican a day earlier.

Both the wedding and the funeral were carried on public and commercial television.
