Ambepitiya killing:
Two suspects released

THE Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Sarojini
Kusala Weerawardena released two suspects in the Judge Sarath Ambepitiya
and MSD Chief Inspector Upali Ranasinghe murder case on an application
by the Attorney General.
Solicitor General C. R. de Silva PC informed Judge Weerawardena that
the Attorney General would not be charging the two suspects, Sujith
Udana Perera and Lasantha Kumara, and to release them.
On an application by ASP Rohana Jayawardena and Inspector Nuwan
Wedasinghe, OIC, Colombo Crime Division (CCD) the Judge ordered the
Registrar of the Court to hand over all productions in the case to the
Colombo High Court.
Five other suspects indicted before the Colombo High Court are
Mohamed Niyas Nawfer alias Potta Nawfer, Nishantha Udaya Kumara, Sampath
Thusara Abeywickrema, Sujith Rohana and Sumedha Niroshan. |
