International Police Association Chief in Lanka today

THE International President of the International Police Association
(Interpol) Michael Odysseos will be in Sri Lanka today to visit Sri
Lankan Police Officers and their families who were victims of the
tsunami tragedy to assist them financially.
International Police Association President Odysseos will meet
Inspector General of Police Chandra Fernando and the National President
and the members of the Sri Lanka Section of the International Police
Association at a meeting held at the Junior Police Officer's Mess,
Colombo today at 9.30 a.m.
The International Police Association is the largest Police
Organisation in the world with 60 National Sections throughout the
world. The total membership is more than 300,000. This Association was
formed in 1950.
The Sri Lankan Section Vice President is former DIG Ignatius
Canagaretnam. The Sri Lankan Section National Secretary General is
Hemachandra Dias.
The International Police Association Chief will visit tsunami
affected areas in Sri Lanka during his stay and see for himself the
damage caused by the unprecedented natural disaster. |
