Bourse dips The market moved down further today with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) losing 6.52 points and the Milanka Price Index (MPI) also shedding 23.51 points. The ASPI which opened the day at 1720.09 points closed at 1713.57 points while the MPI which opened at 2351.78 points closed low at 2328.27 points. Motors, Health Care and Services sectors appreciated considerably while Telecommunication, Power and Energy, Construction and Engineering and Land & Property sectors recorded negative growth. A total turnover of Rs 515.9 Mn was recorded during the day. Health Care sector accounted for over 50% of the total turnover. A total of 4939 trades were concluded during the day. Foreign investors were net buyers in the market with purchases of Rs 83.6Mn and sales of Rs 62.7Mn. Top gainers for the day were Central Industries (+21.2%), Alufab (+19.5%), United Motors (+12%) and Coco Lanka (+11.7%) while the top losers were Lake House Investments (-31%), Udupussela Plantations (-14.8%) and Arpico Finance (-10.7%) |
