Cricket-Aid eases fishermen's burden

Sri Lanka Cricket with the launching of Cricket-Aid took immediate steps to ease the burden of the tsunami victims throughout the Island.

Thilanga Sumathipala, Chairman and the committee of Cricket-aid swiftly visited the affected areas and provided relief to the displaced persons by providing food, lodging and other necessities.

The Camp at Kithulewala Matara where the displaced are lodged was considered as one of the most well equipped camp where all the necessary facilities were provided and was praised by well-wishers who visited the camp. Among the displaced persons in the camp are a few fishermen, whose mainly livelihood is fishing.

For the benefit of the fishing community in the camp, Hashan Tilakaratne, Executive Director of Cricket-Aid and other officials handed over 35 foot deep sea fishing vessel on Monday at the Matara beach. (SLC media release)
