Govt., NGO personnel have put head and soul together to rebuild country - Deputy Minister Welgama

Deputy Minister of Power and Energy Kumara Welgama addressing a gathering at Sri Munindarama Viharaya Bombuwala said that reconstruction and rehabilitation of tsunami devastation and destruction is not such a big task for Sri Lankans, because the Government and Non-Government personnel are putting their head and soul to genuinely to rebuild the nation. Further he said about 250 workers attached to petroleum corporation went to Beruwala voluntarily recently and staying in a school premises were able to remove the debris.

He said that and I will heartily thank them for their volunteer service. He also conveys his thanks to those who have offered materials for the benefit of the tsunami affected.

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has appointed him as the Chairman of the development committee and he will do his best to carry out all activities of development in tsunami destruction he said.

A special programme of action proposed by the president to rehabilitate and reconstruct tsunami victims in the district for which it is high time all should have got together to help in the best possible way, he stated.
