The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Abelardo Moreno Fernandez is scheduled to pay an official visit to Sri Lanka this weekend and will immediately with his counterpart Prof. W.A. Wiswa Warnapala at the Foreign Ministry office. Fernandez has worked for the Foreign Ministry of Cuba in various capacities for nearly four decades and is widely respected as a specialist in foreign affairs throughout Latin America. During the last four decades, he has represented Cuba in various international and regional forums and had the privilege of representing Cuba at the United Nations Organization as its Deputy Permanent Representative. During the audience with the eminent Cuban Minister, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof. W.A. Wiswa Warnapala is expected to discuss various matters, including the trade embargo against Cuba, the growing relationship with Cuba and Venezuela and gigantic trade relations it has built up with People's Republic of China during recent years. |
