Trinitians handover first house today

The - Trinity Task Force, (TTF) comprising the Trinity College Old Boys Association, Old Trinitians Sports Club will handover the first of the fifty houses they have planned to construct for the tsunami affected persons at Ghandinagar in the Kuchchaveli Sub-District in Trincomalee in the Eastern Province at a ceremony to be held at Ghandinagar today February 23rd

The estimate cost of each housing unit is around Rs. 500,000 and they are constructed according to plans approved by the government. It is expected to have all amenities available in the area. The work done by the TTF in the tsunami affected areas has been praised by the people of the area and the LTTE who had sent a letter of appreciation to Trinity College.

The Trinity Task Force comprises philanthropist Nahil Wijesuriya (President Trinity OBA) who has contributed Rs. 10 million towards the housing project, Sujeewa Karawita (President Old Trinitians SC), Mohan Samarakoon (Chairman - TTF and Manager Administration Trinity College), Firdowzi Muslin (Secretary TTF), Malik Saaheed (Secretary TTF), Bimal Fernando (Correspondence and Wehesite) Anura Beneragama (Logistics) Ovinda Sikuradhapathi (Logistics).

The District Chief Secretary Trincomalee M.D.A.G. Rodrigo, Divisional Secretary for Kuchchaveli N. Selvanayagam, DIG Trincomalee Mahinda Beddewela, ASP Trincomalee Gaston Stanislaus were also associated with this humanitarian effort. The TTF formed on the aftermath of the tsunami destruction to provide immediate and long-term relief to people affected by the destruction sacrificed their time and money to make their endeavour a reality.

They distributed Rs. 5 million worth of essential items to the welfare camps in Kuchchaveli, Kinniya, Muttur, Sampoor and Alenkorny all in the Eastern Province. They have now arranged to distribute three container loads of used clothing and blankets which they have received from Netherlands through the efforts of the old Trinitians living abroad with the co-ordination carried out by the TTF.
