New organization for tsunami relief

The inaugural meeting of the newly set up 'We Care' organisation was held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel recently.

This organisation was set up with the assistance of several Non Governmental Organisations in the United States of America to rehabilitate the tsunami victims in the Southern and North-East provinces.

The organisation has already supplied house building materials for 100 houses worth Rs. 5,000,000 in the Southern Province.

'We Care' will build a hospital with all modern facilities spending 50 million American dollars in the Southern Province as soon as the Government allocates lands. '

We Care' is ready to start two housing projects in the South and in the North. 100 houses in each project. Further to that 'We Care' has proposed to build 3 fully equipped colleges, two in the South and one in the Northern Province.

These facts were disclosed at the inaugural meeting by the Chairman of the 'We Care' organisation Rohan Karunaratne.
