Nearly 30 companies respond to PERC M&E unit questioner

Nearly 30 companies have positively responded to the questioner forwarded by the newly set up Monitoring and Evaluation Unit (M & E) of the Public Enterprise Reform Commission (PERC).

The new Unit commenced a Review and a Survey of the past divestitures and circularized a questionnaire to 98 divested enterprises and nearly 30 enterprises have responded to-date.

For the first time the PERC has also introduced a new approach and concept, by inviting representatives of the employees other social interest groups, to submit proposals or suggestions, in respect of each project, when soliciting Expressions of Interest.

This could take the views of all stakeholders, and other social interest groups, in formulating the way forward for the respective projects, to be re-developed and/or developed in conformity with PERC's functions.

The M & E Unit is also attending to several post-divestiture issues, with a view to resolving the issues pertaining to past-divestitures, and also attending to several litigations against the State, pertaining to past - divestitures, which information is also to be updated on the PERC Website.

Expressions of Interest for several re-development and/or development endeavors are being invited to pursue such re-developments and/or developments, essentially on a strategy of a public-private partnership approach, taking into cognisance the interests of all stakeholders, to achieve the broader goal of socio-economic development of the country.

PERC is also in the process of establishing a dedicated Unit to endeavour to re-structure and re-organise certain identified public enterprises, with a view to assisting them to achieve viability, taking into account the interests of all stakeholders, including the consumer public.
