Binupa Wijesinghe and Alain Gyi (men's gross), Roshan Dias and Svenleki Paul (men's nett) in the Donald Steel Championship and Suwen Selvaratnam and Jackie Dias in the Pam Fernando Cup were in the lead at the end of the first round of the Donald Steel's Golf Championship organised by the Victoria Golf and Country Resort and now being played at the Victoria golf course at Rajawella.

Binupa Wijesinghe made a gross score of 30 and Alain Gyi also 30 gross. Roshan Dias made a nett score of 40 nett and Svenleki Paul 39 nett.

In the contest for Pam Fernando Cup, veteran golfer Suwen Selvaratnam made 26 gross and Jackie Dias made 24 gross.

In the contest for Victoria Bowl (nett score) Sandie McAndrew made 43 nett and Niloo Jayatilleke 39 nett. Also coming up with good scores were Suni Nirmalingam 35 nett, Roshni Sangani 33 nett. Tiny Nalder 33 nett, Marie Dunouenne 38 nett and Padmini Arnolda 34 nett and Linda Howard 31 nett.
