Commercial Bank 'Best Foreign Bank' in Bangladesh Bangladesh branch of Commercial Bank of Sri Lanka has been adjudged the 'Best Foreign Bank' at the 'The Industry Business Awards 2004', held recently in Bangladesh.
Commercial Bank was recognised for its outstanding performance in providing banking services and for its contribution to the country's economy. The Industry Business Awards are organized by Bangladesh' s "Weekly Industry Magazine". The Bank's Managing Director, Amitha Gooneratne said the award will further encourage the bank in the pursuit of its goal of becoming a major player in the SAARC region. "The Industry Magazine is encouraging the players in the financial market by carrying out an unbiased selection," the Banks Country Manager in Bangladesh S. Renganathan said. "Achieving this award during our first year of operation, shows the efficiency and the dynamism of Commercial Bank in facing global challenges," he added. Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2003, Commercial Bank acquired Credit Agricole Indosuez's Bangladesh operations consisting of the principal office and two other units in the capital city of Dhaka, and a another branch office in the port city of Chittagong. |
