CAA to streamline application procedure by Sudarshana Perera The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will call for applications soon from domestic airlines who are willing to operate in the international sky. Director General Civil Aviation Authority C. Nimalasiri said they are planning to streamline the application procedures and domestic airlines will have to apply on a prescribed format. Nimalasiri said that this decision was reached last week at a discussion held with the committee appointed to expedite the process and to finalise arrangements to commence operations soon. He said that some domestic airlines have already applied but they might have to reapply with the new application procedures in place. The committee appointed by the Cabinet on giving recommendations is working hard to expedite the arrangements and the application will be published in the newspapers", he said. The Civil Aviation Authority held a series of meetings to discuss the modalities and rules and regulations following the Cabinet giving the green light to allow them to operate international flights from Sri Lanka. |
