In an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation at his residence yesterday, Dr. Amunugama emphasised that Sri Lanka has accorded maximum media freedom and that any media institution in world was free to inquire if the Government has given special priority to any group or community or caused any injustice towards any nationality that has fallen victim to this natural calamity.

President sets March 1st for starting tsunami reconstruction

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga yesterday set March 1 as the commencing date for rebuilding damaged infrastructure in the tsunami hit areas which will follow the signing of the respective MOUs with foreign countries and local and International agencies.

Govt-LTTE nearing agreement on peace talks agenda - Akashi

Special Japanese Government Representative for Peace building, Rehabilitations and Reconstruction in Sri Lanka, Yasushi Akashi yesterday observed that both the Government and LTTE are very close to a final agreement on an agenda for the resumption of peace talks.
